Native American Village
Newtown Battlefield State Park

Revolutionary War Event 2001 If you are fortunate enough to visit Newtown Battlefield during one of the events, you might have an encounter that could take you back a couple of hundred years!

During the Revolutionary War Event, Indians, British Soldiers, Traders and those loyal to the Crown make the Native Village their home for the weekend.

You'll be greeted by Adiondaka, our resident Abenaki, who will give you an enjoyable and fact-filled tour of the Village!

Tours run continuously during our re-enactment events.  Trolleys normally run non-stop from the base of Sullivan's Monument to the Village, about a mile into the park.

See and learn the history of the Iroquois in the Chemung Valley and how they lived.  Join your group in the 'Council House' and learn of the role the Iroquois form of government played in the formation of the structure of government we presently have in the United States!

Adiondaka tells visitors about Native Life.
Native Village at Newtown Battlefield Reservation State Park

If you wander in to Newtown Battlefield at other times, procure a guide brochure at the Park Office and take a self-guided tour of this serene setting.

All buildings in the Village represent actual structures, constructed as one would find in the Chemung Valley during the period of the American Revolution over 225 years ago!
