Friends of Newtown Battlefield

Who We Are --

The Friends of Newtown Battlefield is a committee within the corporate structure of the Chemung Valley Living History Center.  In August, 2003, the board of directors and members of CVLHC voted to create the Friends committee.

Our Mission --

The mission of the Friends of Newtown Battlefield is to work in partnership with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation in order to ensure the preservation of this beautiful, historically valuable resource, through effective promotion and maintenance of its natural environment and the rich history it represents, for future generations to experience, learn from, and enjoy.

How You Can Help --

You can help us by becoming a member of Friends of Newtown.  To do so, simply join the Chemung Valley Living History Center and indicate your interest in the Friends group.  You don't have to be a re-enactor to be an active member.

Once you are a member, with all of the benefits that entails, you can become as active as you wish in a variety of ways.  Some of these include attending general meetings, helping to organize support and fundraising activities, grant-writing, assisting at work bees at the park, and working during events.

A Friends committee chairperson is currently needed.  If you are interested and would like more information, please email the webmaster.
