A Journey Through Time!
Our spectacular guided walking
tours have
become one of the most popular events in the Elmira area.
Guides dressed in authentic Civil
War era attire,
carrying candle lanterns, will take you along a candlelit, forested path
-- into history.
You will walk through the
encampments,
where you will see scenarios of life during a time
of internal upheaval and war in our country's history.
Knowledgeable historic interpreters
and re-enactors
will recreate about twenty different scenes in an authentic setting
that is beautifully
enhanced by the natural, warm glow of candles
and campfires.
Because this is a very popular
event, it is advisable to purchase tickets in advance.

Beginning at
8:00 PM,
groups of about 25 people leave approximately every 15 minutes
from the
Park Office near Sullivan's Monument.
Participants are taken
on a first-come, first-served basis, by number.
Please present your
ticket at the Tour Table as soon as you arrive, to obtain your number.
By popular request, we are offering earlier tours for families with
children,
or for anyone who has difficulty walking in darkness. If you
wish to take the earlier daylight tours, please arrive at the park early
enough to assure your spot.
Each tour
will last about 1-1/2 hours and will cover nearly 1-1/2 miles in distance,
over rough, unpaved forest trails. The trails will be lined with candle luminarias and
each group will have two guides carrying candle lanterns. Because of
the darkness, walking can be a bit tricky.

step!
We are sorry, but due to the rough terrain, the tour is not stroller or handicapped
accessible.
Tours proceed regardless of
the weather,
so please wear appropriate footwear and rain gear, if needed.
Graphic depictions of warfare, the wounded, as well as gunshot and cannon fire along the tour is expected. Therefore, the tour may not be suitable for very young children or for the faint-of-heart.
